Our Pastoral Leaders

As an ecumenical church, we have pastoral leaders from many different church backgrounds! The Pastoral Leaders play an important role in keeping the Gathering running smoothly - they are all Trustees, they lead most of our services, and they take care of our community’s pastoral and spiritual needs.

  • Hi, I’m Ruth! I’m a priest in the Church in Wales, and I’ve been involved with the Gathering since 2017. I am passionate about the special role The Gathering plays in witnessing God’s love to the LGBTQ+ community, and also witnessing the inspiring faith and love of the LGBTQ+ community to the wider church. I am a bisexual gender-non-conforming woman and I live with my wonderful civil partner in the diocese of Monmouth. My partner and I continue to campaign for equal marriage in the Church in Wales, with the love and support of our faith family at the Gathering.

  • Hi, I'm Nici and I'm a founding member of The Gathering. I identify as queer/gay and gender non-binary, and I use they/them pronouns. I'm also an elder at City United Reformed Church (URC), where The Gathering currently meets, and was instrumental in creating an open and affirming policy there in 2001, allowing all to be welcomed through the doors. I am passionate about equality and believe church is for everyone who wants it.

  • Hi, I’m Delyth, I’m a Methodist minister and Coordinating Chaplain at Cardiff University. I’m passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion, and do a lot of work with the Methodist Church's Dignity & Worth, demonstrating that God’s love and grace is there for each one of us, whomever we love and whatever our gender.

    In The Gathering I focus on emotionally supporting and caring for LGBTQ+ folks and enabling conversations about our faith in God in relation to our sexuality or gender.

  • Hi, I'm G, and I’ve been proud to have been a part of The Gathering since its formation. As our Secretary, I do a lot of our organising, and really enjoy arranging guest speakers, setting up some of our social media, and helping with the arrangements for the Faith Tent at Pride Cymru! I love meeting new people and can’t wait to meet you.

Our Staff Members

There’s lots of practical work to be done to keep The Gathering running smoothly! We’re so fortunate to have the funds to be able to pay part-time staff members, and to have members of our community who’ve taken on these roles with us.

  • Hi, I'm Georgia, The Gathering's LGBTQ+ Community Link Worker, and it's my job to do all sorts of outreach within the local LGBTQ+ community, to help bridge the gap between faith and queer identities. I also do our social media!

  • Hi, I'm Sammy, The Gathering's Administrator! I've been a member of The Gathering since 2018 and have previously served with The Gathering as a trustee and as a worship leader.

    I’m excited to move forwards with updating the worship catalogue, getting live worship back, and generally getting us more organised!
