What’s On at The Gathering

Sunday Evening Services

We hold regular Sunday services at 7pm every week. We’re a pretty relaxed and friendly bunch, but we know that going to a new church or faith space can be daunting! Click below for some more detailed information about what our Sunday evening services look like and what you can expect.

Shared Meals

Once a month we share a meal together before our regular Sunday evening service in the URC Cafe. These meals are free to everyone, but we do require people to sign up so that we know everyone’s allergies, dietary requirements and preferences ahead of time!

You can sign up via ChurchSuite by clicking on the upcoming meal event in the calendar above!

As there are limited number of spaces available we do ask that if you know you’re no longer able to attend, please let us know so we can cancel your ticket and let someone else join us.

Craft Socials

We also try to get together once a month to have some chill time doing crafts before our regular Sunday evening service in the URC Cafe.

These are relaxed, informal events that give us the opportunity to relax and socialise in a chill, sober environment. We try to keep the ligths dim and the space quiet so that it provides a calm and relaxing space for those with sensory issues.

Most people bring a craft with them and sometimes there is an activity we might be using the time for (such as making placards for upcoming Prides), but feel free to bring whatever craft you like (or none!) Occasionally a volunteer might run a station at a craft event where they’re able to teach people how to do a particular craft activity, but most of the time we all just bring our pencils and crochet hooks and hang out together!

You don’t have to sign up for these, you can just come along and join in the fun!

The Gathering at Prides

Every year we try to attend a number of prides across South Wales. We like to show up and make sure that LGBTQ+ people know that they are welcome in church and that queer people are beloved by God as they are! But we also understand that many LGBTQ+ people are understandably wary of Christians. We don't evangelise or try to convert people, or pull people into conversations at Prides - we simply set up a space to let people see who we are and allow people to come to us and start conversations if they want to.

This year we’ve attended:

  • Swansea Pride (17th May)

  • Barry Pride (14th June)

  • Pride Cymru (21st - 22nd June)

  • Big Queer Picnic (21st June)

  • Caerphilly Pride (5th July)

See our calendar for what Prides are coming up next!

Faith Space @ Pride Cymru

Since 2015, The Gathering has run the Faith Space at Pride Cymru, with funding from the Diocese of Llandaff and volunteers and contributions from other faith groups, and at Pride 2025 we celerabrated its 10 year anniversary!

The Faith Space at Pride Cymru celebrates our rich, diverse and inclusive faith communities. Situated within the main festival grounds it provides tangible evidence that you can be LGBTQ+ and be a person of faith. It offers a space to find out more about the LGBTQ+ groups within all faiths, chat with our lovely volunteers about your own experiences or simply chill out with some craft and games.

The Faith Tent also hosts talks, poetry, and worship from a variety of individuals, groups and denominations, and hosts a eucharist over the weekend.  Our main event is the Eucharist on the Saturday evening which provides an incredible opportunity to celebrate Christian faith within a festival celebrating our sexuality and gender identity.
